Why this petition matters

Can someone please tell me how a few homeless street dogs, sitting quietly in their spots, doing no harm to anyone, can affect India's global image during a two-day event called G20? Over the last few days, we have witnessed completely illegal and horrific cruelty by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi, which is picking up dogs (and cows) randomly in the cruellest fashion and shoving them into congested shelters/centres.

From videos that are going viral on social media from multiple locations in Delhi, one can see dogs being 'dragged by their neck' and being shoved into vans, without knowing if they will ever return to their localities - no record of where they have been picked up from and where they will be dropped back. There is no assurance of food or water. All this despite orders that no sterilised dogs can ever be dislocated.

All our screaming and shouting is going to fall on deaf ears and all will go unseen and unheard once again. We need this cruelty to stop now - sign my petition.

Feeders and caregivers of these beloved Indian dogs are running hither and thither trying to intercept these vans and keep records of their removal. Is the torture, fear and trauma you are causing these friendly, tail-wagging friends of ours worth the two-day event? The motto of G20 is, "One Earth, One Family, One Future." Who are they kidding? It is a joke. Government of India, we citizens dread the idea of the nation holding an international event because you are suddenly embarrassed by our poor people and our urban animals, hiding them away. We are deeply pained by what is happening with the strays in the capital, and need this torture to stop now! #G20AnimalCruelty
